First, a qualifier--I AM NOT COMPLAINING!!! What a crazy busy week so far! I submitted Two Roped and Ready (Bewitching Desires 6) on Sunday, got first edits for The Sextet Presents...Playing in the Raine: A Toy Story on Monday, got final edits for Two Pirates to Treasure (Bewitching Desires 4) on Tuesday, and got the offer to publish Two Roped and Ready today. Both sets of edits are done and sent, and Two Pirates to Treasure will be available for pre-orders very soon! Now to get back to writing Two from the Triangle :)

I got first edits from Siren yesterday afternoon for The Sextet Presents...Playing in the Raine: A Toy Story. My editor's comments include "This is an all-around excellent manuscript, with strong characters and a well-developed plot. In addition to a well-written story, this manuscript is very clean...The sex scenes in this story are all incredibly hot." Watch out--this one is rated Sextreme! Edits are done and sent, with a super hot excerpt :) Release date is April 2!

Sad news to share...Yesterday I had to have my kitty put down after three very difficult weeks of syringe feeding through a feeding tube. We exhausted all possible treatments and he was still losing weight. This morning my husband, my son, and I buried our kitty in the woods next to his old friend Lady (our 16-year-old dog who died 2 1/2 years ago). Rest in peace, Socks. We'll miss you :(

Book 6 in the Bewitching Desires series is still in progress and, barring a miracle, won't be ready to submit by Feb. 1st like I'd hoped. Life--in the form of a very sick kitty--has interrupted and slowed my writing a bit. He has fatty liver syndrome and had to have a feeding tube put in. So, I've been syringe feeding multiple times a day for the last two weeks. Fingers crossed he gets well soon.

I finished the cover art questionnaires for Two Times the Trouble (Bewitching Desires 5) and The Sextet Presents...Playing in the Raine: A Toy Story today, both of which are tentatively scheduled for May releases. I should be getting the requests for the questionnaires this week, along with the contracts.

After an IRWA Board meeting in Indy yesterday, I had lunch with my Sextet sister Annie Morgan, and she gave me a lesson in loading a flintlock pistol. Yes, she brought a real one, but we didn't actually load it :) Thanks, Annie!

Already this year I've critiqued two chapters for Sandy James and one chapter for a new writer, and beta read Cheryl Brooks' Cat Star Chronicles #9--Wildcat. I also finished judging my Golden Heart entries and started working on Bewitching Desires 6--Two Roped and Ready. Whew!

Just when I thought I might lose my mind from another day of rain, the liquid turned to solid! Walking to tutoring with my son across campus yesterday, we were dodging raindrops and sleet. By the time we headed back to the car, slushy snow had already started accumulating on the ground, the road, and the sidewalks. My Beetle looked like a giant blue cupcake with two inches of thick white frosting :) This morning the view from the picture window in my living room is Christmas-card gorgeous. Snow-covered trees and birds on the feeders. Now I'm ready to shop!

BTW, last night I finished another chapter of Two Times the Trouble. Jolan has Liam and Ivan right where she wants them :)

What a busy week! Besides the usual writing, laundry, taking my son to tutoring, etc., I made homemade noodles and pies (2 pumpkin and 1 peach + 1 apple to put in the freezer) to take to my SIL's for Thanksgiving. Fifteen of us enjoyed way too much food and our annual B-day party for all the kids. Then, it was off to my sister's house to see my side of the family--with MORE food...My husband, son, and I had a wonderful visit with the daughter. We saw The Muppets :) and tried a new-to-us Thai restaurant. *insert heavenly sigh here* Happy belated Thanksgiving!

I'd hoped to finish Two Pirates to Treasure by the first of October, but I didn't quite make it. Life doesn't always cooperate. I spent a couple days in Ohio for my sister's father-in-law's funeral. He had a long battle with cancer and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The Sextet has submitted the fourth anthology to Siren this week--Entanglements. If you haven't guessed by the title, the stories involve some major emotional and physical ties! My contribution to this volume is String Theory. An imaginative physicist and her sexy coworker enjoy some after-hours experimentation :) I'll post the release date as soon as I know!

The fifth volume, Mistletoe and Menage, is coming right along too. I plan to finish my story today and send it off to the rest of the group for critique. Still thinking about the title...

In between, I've been trying to keep with my garden. Yesterday I chopped 30 pounds of tomatoes and a bunch of peppers, onions, and celery for bbq sauce. I now have enough to last two years! It joins the 30 pints of salsa I canned last month.

Vacation got in the way of writing a little, but I'm working on the final chapter of Two Fated for One (Bewitching Desires 3). We had a strenuous but awesome hike up to the top of Estes Cone on Tuesday and a drive up the Old Fall River Road on Wednesday to the Alpine stop (9 miles of one-way dirt/gravel road from about 7500 feet elevation to about 12,000 feet). The views coming down the Trail Ridge Road were breathtaking and a tiny bit scary at times.

After a two and a half day drive, I'm home again, trying to catch up on laundry and get the last chapter done. Then it's on to the next story!

Don't forget--Two if by Sea releases Monday!!!

Vacation in The Rockies

I'm having a wonderful time with my husband and son in Estes Park this week. Today we hiked the Nymph, Dream, Emerald Lakes trail and the alluvial fan trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. The highlight of the day was when my son tried to cross the stream at the alluvial fan and fell in. He got soaked from head to toes. He's been a good sport about the teasing and is none the worse for wear. Tomorrow, the eight-mile hike??? Maybe :)

Almost Caught Up!

What a crazy summer! I've been out of town several times--RWA National Conference, family reunion/vacation, moving daughter to grad school, and now hubby's conference in Boulder/vacation in Estes Park. I've had numerous writing deadlines and releases. And I'm writing new stories. In the last couple weeks, I've done final edits, first edits, edits for a submission, continued working on book 3 of the Bewitching Desires series, and starting a new novella for volume 5 of The Sextet Anthologies. I have a self-imposed submission deadline of this Wednesday for Two Fated for One (BD-3), with only the last couple chapters to write. Then I need to crank out the Christmas anthology story and get started on Two Pirates to Treasure. Did I really say I'm almost caught up???

In between first edits for Two Knights of Passion and final edits for Two if by Sea, I've been working on Bewitching Desires 3: Two Fated For One and judging entries for the Indiana Golden Opportunity writing contest. Final edits are done, first edits are in progress, Two Fated For One is nearing completion, and I finished the last of my judging today. That brings me to the "Whew!"

For those entering contests and submitting to agents and publishers, I have a few words of advice.

**Be sure to follow the formatting guidelines.** Every entry I judged had points taken off for not following standard formatting guidelines. Don't try to squeeze in extra words from your manuscript by beginning new chapters at the tops of pages or on the same page as the previous chapter. This makes a BAD impression. It makes the writer look unprofessional. Take the time to research acceptable fonts, how to make a header, what margin size to use, etc. The points for formatting are giveaways for those who follow directions!

Stir-fried Green Beans

I picked the first of my garden green beans today and decided to get creative in the kitchen. Here's the result!

Stir-fried Green Beans

1/2 pound or so fresh green beans
2-3 large cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon garlic chili pepper sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons water

Heat the olive oil in a wok over medium-high heat until hot. Add garlic and green beans. Stir-fry until beans begin to turn bright green. Add water and cover. Steam about five minutes, stirring occasionally. Add garlic chili pepper sauce and toss well. Serve as a side dish or with steamed rice.

Summer Vacation???

Remember the days of summer vacation? Not happening. My husband helped our daughter move from her apartment at Purdue to her new apartment at Kent State last weekend--which means I've spent the last week trying to make room for a new bedroom suite since she got our old one. This job has morphed into cleaning the spare room to find space for the desk that's currently in my bedroom and adding more attic floor in the garage for more storage space. On top of that, the garden has decided it needs attention. At least, we're taking a break today to go see the last Harry Potter movie. I'm hoping to get in some writing today, too!

Home Again

I had a terrific time in NYC at the RWA National Conference, but I'm glad to be home. Even after almost twelve hours of sleep last night, I'm still recovering from late nights and early mornings. Good thing it only happens once a year!

This month will be another busy one--a family reunion/vacation at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio, picking up the key for my daughter's new apartment and getting her moved from Purdue to Kent State, keeping up with the garden, and writing, of course :) August looks about the same, with a trip to Colorado and school starting again.

Many thanks to those of you who have bought The Sextet Anthologies Volumes 1 & 2! I'm on the Siren 30-day Bestselling Authors list!!! Volume 3 is due out July 29th, so I should be getting the cover and final edits soon. I'll post the new cover as soon as I get it!

Off to write some more!

So Much To Do!

What a day! I had breakfast at Junior's this morning with part of The Sextet, wrote for a couple hours, and did some window shopping on Fifth Avenue with lunch at Trump Tower. After a quick stop in the hotel room, I headed to the 8th floor to meet up with a couple of my Sextet sisters who flew in today. Then we were off the RWA Literacy Signing. People everywhere!!! Later, The Sextet and a few friends will head to Sardi's for a late supper. Having a great time in NYC!!!
